Syllabus
  • LECTURES:
  • 1. Drug classification. Mechanisms of drug effects. Basic pharmacokinetics. Drug interactions.
  • 2. Adverse drug effects. General management of poisoning. Rationale pharmacotherapy.
  • 3. Preclinical and clinical drug evaluation.
  • 4. Neurotropic drugs, psychotropic drugs.
  • 5. Anaestetics, analgesic drugs.
  • 6. Pharmacotherapy of hypertension, angina pectoris, hyperlipidemia, heart failure and heart arrhythmias.
  • 7. Antibiotics and chemoterapeutics.
  • SEMINARS:
  • 1. Introduction to the study of pharmacology. Contents and organisation of practical courses. Pharmacological calculations. Latin terminology in the drug prescription
  • 2. Drug prescription. Survey of drug dosage forms. Pharmacopoea.
  • 3. Practical preparation of selected drug dosage forms.
  • 4. Experimental pharmacology. Etics of experiments in lab animals.
  • 5. Pharmacokinetic processes and parameters. Therapeutic drug monitoring. The use of computer techiques in pharmacokinetics. Practical computations of basic pharmacokinetic parameters.
  • 6. Pharmacology of autonomic nervous system. Receptors of sympathetic system and their pharmacological influence.
  • 7. Pharmacology of autonomic nervous system. Receptors of parasympathetic system and their pharmacological influence.
  • 8. Pharmacology of allergy. Histamine and antihistamine drugs. Drugs used in asthma
  • 9. Antiflogistic and antiarthritic drugs, drugs used in gout.
  • 10. Pathophysiology and therapy of peptic ulcers. Antiemetics.
  • 11. Pathophysiology and therapy of diabetes mellitus. Insulines. Peroral antidiabetic drugs.
  • 12. Glucokorticoids, mechanism of effect. Anabolic drugs.
  • 13. Pharmacotherapy of neoplastic diseases. Imunomodulation, imunosupression.
  • 14. Vitamins B, C, A, D, E, K. Supplements.
  • 15. Revision, test, credits.
