Course objectives
Learning outcomes - introduction to irreplaceable role of medical rehabilitation, physiotherapy and rehabilitation nursing in intensive care of all clinical disciplines. Indications, contraindications and relevant outcomes in context of the prevention of immobilization syndrome and pathology of the motion and cardiorespiratory system are also introduced. In addition, the individual methodical procedures of physiotherapy and rehabilitation nursing, limitations and specifics of the organism burden in clinically relevant clinical conditions are discussed.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will be able to: - to select and assess indications, contraindications, procedures and outcomes of medical rehabilitation in intensive care;
- practically implement procedures for rehabilitation treatment;
- practically implement kinesiotherapy procedures in the indications and procedures and competences defined by physiotherapist;
- assist patients in kinesiotherapy procedures and work with instrumentation in competencies defined by the physiotherapist;
- educate patients about the irreplaceable role of medical rehabilitation and to support them in implementation of kinesiotherapy in competencies defined by physiotherapist;
- evaluate motion limitations and load limitations in relation to the clinical condition and condition of the motion and cardiorespiratory system
Syllabus
  • The role of medical rehabilitation and its position in intensive care. EBM argumentation for rehabilitation treatment. The role of nurse in the process of medical rehabilitation and rehabilitation treatment.
  • Objectives of rehabilitation, indications, contraindications.
  • Objectively measurable limitations of rehabilitation and physical exercise in intensive care.
  • Basics of pathophysiology of the load in individual physiotherapy procedures.
  • The role optimal position of human body in (temporary) immobilization in the context of posture, cardiorespiratory and movement system. The effect of immobility on individual organs.
  • Passive and active kinesiotherapy, respiratory physiotherapy, reeducation of verticalization and locomotion, activities of daily living training.
  • Use of aids for walking and activities of daily life outside bed.
  • Condition kinesiotherapy, recommendations of physical activities in the context of reconvalescence and prevention of cardiometabolic diseases.
  • The strategies and specifics of kinesiotherapy in cardiometabolic, pulmonary, selected internal, surgical and neurological diseases in intensive care.
  • Strategies and specifics of kinesiotherapy in gerontology.
  • The use of instrumentation in medical assessment and physiotherapeutic procedures in intensive care.
