Course objectives
Objective: To prepare general nurses for providing highly specialized nursing care for patients in critical states. During the course students will engage in patient care in accordance with Regulation no. 55/2011 Coll. for the General nurse field with specialized qualifications - Nurse in intensive care. Students will: be able to take care of the patient with traumatic brain injury, to be able to care for a patient in a coma vigile, to be able to take care of a potential organ donor; to be able to care of intoxicated patients; Furthermore, students will: face the issue of sudden critical conditions in children and will be able to take care of traumatized and polytraumatized patients. Students will acquire skills in: • patient care with thermal skin damage, • patient care with hematooncological disease; • patient care after drowning, strangulation; • patient care after electric shock; • patient care after vascular surgery; • will understand problems of chronic dialysis program. Students are involved in: • patient care with traumatic brain injuries; • patient care in coma vigile; • the care of a potential organ donor; • care of intoxicated patients; • the care of traumatized and polytraumatized patients; • patient care with thermal skin damage; • patient care with hematooncological disease; • patient care after drowning, strangulation; • patient care after electric shock; • patient care after vascular surgery. Performances and their frequency (at least): . preparation patients and assistance for puncture or chest drainage (2x) • Gastric lavage in patients with a secured airways (2x) • Preparations for the purge methods blood (3x) • Connecting the patient to extracorporeal circulation of blood purge methods (3x) • Termination of extracorporeal circulation of blood purge methods (3x) • Patient care during purge methods blood (3x) • Caring for a patient with intracranial sensor (3) • Implementing the concept of basal stimulation (3x) • Patient Education (3x) • Education relatives (2x)
Learning outcomes
Students will: be able to take care of patients with traumatic brain injury, to be able to care for a patient in a coma vigile, to be able to take care of a potential organ donor; to be able to care for intoxicated patients; Furthermore, students will: face the issue of sudden critical conditions in children and will be able to take care of traumatized and polytraumatized patients. Syllabus
  • Nursing Practice IV is focus on practice and mastery of nursing, diagnostic and therapeutic activities in patients on artificial ventilation. The practice is realized in accredited intensive medicine workplace for a given field. Workplace: KARIM FN Brno ARO FN u sv. Anny
