Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject acquaints students with the problems of communication in nutrition so that they acquire basic skills of correct dissemination of nutrition information for individuals or population groups. Emphasis is placed on the specifics of communication and education of individual groups - children, adults, seniors, foreigners and special groups of patients. Part of the course is the theoretical basis of publishing not only for professionals, but also for the general public and training in the transmission of nutrition information in various media.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student: - knows the basic principles of social marketing - conducts a critical analysis of research and popularization articles - can work with advertising, nutritional myths, hoax reports in connection with scientifically based information - create a popular and professional article - choose appropriate forms of communication in the healthcare facility - propose appropriate forms of education according to the objective, target group and conditions
Syllabus
  • 1. Basics of social marketing. 2. Advertising versus nutritional recommendations, effective nutrition education. 3. Working with nutrition myths, hoax messages, critical reading. 4. Popularization of science, nutritional therapist in the media, answers to questions for laymen, experts. 5. Nutritional therapist on the labor market, self-presentation. 6. Code of nutritional therapist. Possibilities of education in counseling centers, problems of opinion conflict, specifics of nutrition concept and nutritional recommendations. 7. Role of nutritional therapist in health care facilities I - communication in health care team. 8. Role of nutritional therapist in health care facilities II - communication with patient at bed, with client in counseling. 9. Projects of health promotion at regional, national or international level (from the perspective of education and communication), preparation of methodology in the area of proper nutrition. 10. Creation of professional and popular articles and communications on nutrition.
