Course objectives
The main objectives of the course are:
- acquiring theoretical knowledge about the importance of psychiatry in other medical and paramedical fields
- acquiring theoretical knowledge about major psychiatric disorders and psychoses
- acquiring theoretical knowledge about possible pharmacological and non-pharmacological procedures for the treatment of psychiatric disorders
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
- understand the importance of psychiatry for other medical and non-medical fields
- describe and recognize symptoms of the most common psychiatric disorders and psychotic illnesses
- propose appropriate acute treatment to calm a restless patient
- propose appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment for the treatment of psychiatric disorders

The colloquium is a written test. This is a test with the choice of one correct answer. The test has 10 questins, the student must answer at least 6 questions correctly to pass the test.

General note: Výuka probíhá v podzimním semestru v pondělí od 12.30 do 14.10 v posluchárně Psychiatrické kliniky FN Brno, budova G, 1. patro, Jihlavská 20. Výuka je společná pro NMgr obory FYZI, OPTO a NUTR.
