Course objectives
At the end of the course, students should be able to understand basics of system of law and basics of single legal branches. Legal problems in health care are discussed in-depth.
Learning outcomes
Student knows after completing the subject:
- basics of the system of law
- individual legal sectors
- basic legal issues of health care
Syllabus
  • 1. State and law – basic terms of legal theory, legal branches, sources of law, private and public law, basics of constitutional law
  • 2. Administration – basic terms, state administration and self-government, administrative proceeding
  • 3. Civil law – sources of civil law, obligations, selected contracts, heritage, civil liability, basics of civil proceeding
  • 4. Family law – matrimonial relationships, parent – child relationships, alimentary duty
  • 5. Basics of business law – sources, commercial code – structure, contracts
  • 6. Labour law – sources, labour code – structure, subjects of labour law, trade unions – basic information, content of labour relationship, health protection, liability, special labour conditions for specific categories of employees, remuneration
  • 7. Health care law – sources, public health insurance, subjects of public health insurance and their duties, health insurance funds, patients rights, medical liability, confidentiality, protection of privacy, detention, health care professions, health care administration, self-government in health care
  • 8. Basics of penal and trespass law – sources, principles of penal law and penal proceeding, sanctions, selected crimes, trespasses – basic information

Teaching methods
The course consists of 6 block sessions (seminars). In order to pass the course, the student needs to attend at least four of them. The last session is dedicated to presentations of projects, which will be evaluated.
