Cíle předmětu
Course is complementary to aVLBC0421p and aVLLC0421s. The aim of the course it to bring experience with solving practical problems in clinical biochemistry, to acquire practical laboratory skills and to learn students to use results of biochemical analysis for diagnostics.
Výstupy z učení
The student is able:
- to explain the ways of obtaining biological material for biochemical analysis and is familiar with the rules of manipulation.
- to describe physiological values of the most important biochemical parameters.
- to interpret the results of biochemical analyzes, discusses the significance of the findings.
- to understand the principles of the most important biochemical-analytical methodologies.
- to be oriented in basic laboratory manipulations.

Informace učitele
Practical lessons (practicals) will take place mainly in contact form in odd teaching weeks, always in the time according to the schedule and syllabus. Materials for practicals will always be included in Study materials of the course. For each practical, there are instructions for performing practical tasks with relevant theoretical background and a template (protocol), in which students will write the measured results and conclusions. Before each class, students must study the relevant instructions for the procedures and complete answers to the pre-lab questions in the template (protocol). Students will bring printed instructions and protocols with answers or adequate materials on tablets. The results of practical tasks, calculations, and answers to questions are recorded by students directly during the class into protocols. Further practical information is given in the file "Directions for laboratory work". After the class, students will definitely complete the protocol and upload it to IS Homework Vault before the specified deadline. Classes in the 8th and 13th week will take place online via the MS-TEAMS application. During these meetings, there will be a discussion of the theoretical background and conclusions from the exercises, the elaboration of protocols and a discussion of questions to students - always on the content of previous exercises. Attendance in all practical classes (contact and online) is mandatory, absences must be excused through the study department within 5 days of the beginning of absence. Missed classes must be substituted in agreement with the teacher. A white coat, slippers or sturdy shoes with overshoes, a FFP2 respirator, gloves, and a calculator are required for the practical class.
