Course objectives
In the course, students will become acquainted in detail with devices using ionizing radiation to image tissues in the human body (X-ray, CT), but also with some imaging methods working on a different principle (magnetic resonance imaging-MRI, ultrasound). Another comprehensive part is the measurement of quantities for the determination of doses to the patient during exposure, for the description of sources of ionizing radiation and for radiation protection purposes. Students get a detailed overview of the individual imaging methods (single-photon emission computed tomography SPECT, positron-emission tomography PET), the description of quantities and calculations of dose to the patient. Diagnostic methods are also inextricably linked to image processing, to which due attention is paid.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will:
- have a detailed overview of individual imaging methods (single-photon emission computed tomography SPECT, positron-emission tomography PET)
- be familiar with the description of variables and dose calculations in the patient.
