Prerequisites
Student is supposed to have passed successfully the foundational course in phonetics and phonology in the first year of study or needs to practise concrete pronunciation items that have proved to be unsatisfactory.Preferably,the students have taken AJPV_VYSA in the autumn semester.However,it is not recommended that students take AJPV_VYSA or AJPV_ VYSB before taking phonetics seminars in the first year of study.

Course objectives
The course offers further practice of selected pronunciation problems,such as stress,rhythm and intonation using advanced authentic spoken texts which are analysed and practised in various forms (BBC news,Streaming Speech CD-ROM etc.)
Learning outcomes
After completing the course students will be able to: -pronounce selected high-frequency loan words (French) -pronounce selected high-frequency loan words (Other ori.) -distinguish between a number of dominant UK accents -use a range of intonation patterns reflecting the comm. purpose

Attendance 80%,for credit each student has to memorise a spoken text using the correct rhythmical and intonational patterns and defend the strategies used.
