Course objectives

The course is aimed at the development and improvement of the students' language skills through a range of reading, speaking and listenting activities. Students should broaden their vocabulary and become more confident using it within particular contexts. Special emphasis is placed on the students' ability to communicate their ideas meaningfully and correctly, carry out conversations and improve their knowledge of grammar at intermediate level.

Syllabus

• The course is based on New English File - students will need Intermediate MultiPACK A. The plan is to cover U1, 2 and 3 which will be supplemented by other additional materials. The basic study material is the coursebook New English File INTERMEDIATE (Student's book and Workbook), see Literature below. The syllabus includes Units 1 - 3, the focus is on speaking and listening activities and development of students' vocabulary.

• 5. U 1 - Practical English - Introductions, Describing a person

• 7. U 2B - Present perf. cont., Descriptions, Holidays
• 8. U 2C - Comparatives and superlatives, Transport and travel
• 9. U 2 - Practical English - In the office, Telling a story
• 10. U 3A - Obligations, Mobile phones
• 11. U 3B - Deductions, Describing people
• 12. U 3C - Ability and possibility, Success and failure; Practical English - Renting a flat, Informal letters
