Course objectives
This is a survey course of British History from Prehistoric times of Britain till the 90s of the last century. Its aim is to provide part of the historical and cultural background necessary for those intending to be become English language teachers, as well as to serve as an introduction and foundation for further studies in British cultures and literature. The lecture class will end with an exam. T
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students should be able to understand and be able to explain the main events in the British history and their causes and consequences in relation to British cultures and English society.

Assessment methods
1. DO ALL THE QUIZZES There are 13 quizzes in the course. The quizzes are designed for students to test their understanding of the topics from British history. Students will be checked if they regularly fill in each test for each topic from the history. Scores students gain from doing the quizzes will not count towards the overall evaluation of their work. All the quizzes will be closed down 21 May at midnight. 2. THE FINAL TEST Studying the e-books is not enough for passing the test. You are strongly encouraged to go to the lectures where the e-book materials, along with the Lecture study topics, will be dealt with in detail. 3. OPTIONAL requirement Correctly complete 7 out of 10 pop-up quizzes. These 5-minute quizzes will be given at the beginning of certain lectures during the semester. They will not be announced in advance (i.e. they will "pop-up"). The students who will take and correctly complete 7 out of 10 quizzes will not have to take the final test. Taking the quizzes is not obligatory.
