Course objectives
Translation Theory Seminar will cover the traditional secondary literature and studies dealing with the English Czech translations /see bellow/.
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
to understand the basic terms of equivalence;
to learn the basic history of English Czech translations;
to analyse the main semantics features and their influence on modern translations theories;
to understand and analyse the changing style of modern translations and understand the reasons for the need for modern translations theories;

  • We will cover the topics:
  • * traditional translation methods
  • * equivalence methods
  • * history of translations (development of Shakespeare's translations)
  • * tips and tricks
