Course objectives
student will propose an annual thematic plan of the Natural History curriculum
student will by own words explain the difference between knowledge, skills and abilities
student will create a conceptual map on the selected theme
student will formulate learning objectives for different levels of Bloom Taxonomy
student will by own words explain the difference between organizational and cooperative forms of teaching
student will characterize selected organizational and cooperative forms of teaching
student will develop a scenario for an hour of the basic type, an hour of laboratory exercises and an hour of field lessons
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to: - plan and prepare teaching of Natural History lesson; - to distinguish individual organizational and cooperative forms of teaching; - analyze the curriculum in terms of concepts and inter-subject relations; - explain the Bloom's Taxonomy of Learning Objectives; - correctly formulate learning objectives.

  • Syllabus of lectures:
  • 1) Planning and preparation of the lesson: content and extent of curriculum, curriculum selection criteria
  • 2) Subject and its analysis: knowledge
  • 3) Subject and its analysis: skills, value orientation of the pupil, beliefs and attitudes
  • 4) Learning objectives: Types of learning objectives and taxonomy
  • 5) Principles of formulation of teaching objectives
  • 6) Organizational forms of teaching: Basic type lesson
  • 7) Organizational forms of teaching: hour of laboratory exercises
  • 8) Organizational forms of teaching: excursions and field exercises
  • 9) Cooperative forms of teaching: individual and mass form of teaching
  • 10) Cooperative forms of teaching: group and individualized form of teaching
  • 11) Cooperative forms of teaching: project instruction

Teaching methods
Form of teaching: mass-frontal, mass-independent work, group-homogeneous, group-heterogeneous, group-differentiated. Teaching methods: lectures, explanations, class discussions, projection of static images
Assessment methods
- student will attend at least 5 of 6 exercises - (80% attendance) - In the course of the exercises the students develop materials that they will create in the "Portfolio of Beginning Natural History Teacher" - Colloquium will be awarded on completion of the written test at 70% - a written test is attended by students only if they have attended the exercises and all the materials in the "Portfolio of Beginning Natural Sciences Teacher"
