Course objectives
The is excursion is aimed to performing a dialect research in a place preserved territorial dialect.
- Students proof the theoretic knowledge about dialect speech that they have got in the lectures of dialectology in the special locality with dialect;
2. Students learn to transcribe vernacular speech.
3. Students proof their own ability to carry out research of dialects by controlled conversation.
Syllabus
  • 1. Students acquaint themselves with the local speech, especially with the trends of the dialects (especially in the speech of youth or young generation)
  • 2. Students learn to transcribe vernacular speech.
  • 3. Students their own ability to carry out research of dialects by controlled conversation.
  • 4. In the seminars students learn to connect the characteristics of dialects with historical and contemporary development of Czech language.

Teaching methods
- Direct method of controlled conversation;
- heuristics: sound recording of the vernacular speech, transcription; - analysis of the vernacular speech;
- excerpcion of the language features of dialect.
Assessment methods
Excursion
Ending: credit
Credit requirements: students have to take part in the excursion and give the research report to the teacher (tutor).
That are evaluated the objective accuracy of the research report and the language and stylistic quality of the text, too.
