Course objectives
At the end of this course the students: 1. will be able to deal with standard morphological plan of the Czech language;
2. will understand the problems of the functional and formal morphology;
3. will be able to recognize type of morpheme, grammatical structure of the word, criteria of classification of the parts of speech (morphological, semantic and syntactical criteria);
4. will be able to recognize the morphological categories of the nouns and verbs, grammatical forms of the nouns and the verbs (usage of the grammatical forms, variants, irregularity in the declination and the conjugation);
5. will know uninflected parts of speech in the Czech stylistic aspects in the morphology;
6. to explain the tendency of the contemporary Czech morphology.

  • 6. Transfer between parts of speech.

  • 8. Morphology of the nouns and verbs.
  • 9. Uninflected parts of speech in Czech.
  • 10. Stylistic aspects in the morphology.
  • 11. The tendency of the contemporary Czech morphology.
  • 12. Morphology in the Czech National Corpus.
  • 13. Czech Orthography Regulations with focus on morphological orthography.

Teaching methods
A seminar, active analytical students´ work in the analysis of texts, active synthetic students´ work in the interpretation of linguistic phenomena, discussion about the professional course issues, using of problem method and controlled discussion.
Assessment methods
Students do homework, compulsory attendance. Written test and oral examination. Written test consists of 20 questions evaluated by 20 points. Students must obtain 80 % right answers.Successful mastering of the test is a prerequisite for enrolling in an oral exam. The content of the oral exam is determined by the content of the subject matter. The student enrolls two questions in the exam, assessing factual accuracy and cultivated expression. There are of three attempts to complete the test: if you pass the test for the first attempt, you have three on the oral exam. If you pass the test for the second attempt, you have two on an oral exam. If you pass the third-chance test, you have one on an oral exam.
