Course objectives
Students will become familiar with the procedures of preparing the lesson of Czech language, with the methods and the forms of work, procedures for assessing students They will become familiar with various types of coursebooks and teaching materials for language and literary education, with the criteria of assessing and preparing their own teaching materials. During the preparation for teaching, they can apply various methodical approaches.
Learning outcomes
Students: - will be able to prepare for a class (including the motivation and feedback), choose appropriate methods and forms of work; - will learn to correct written and oral shortcomings of their pupils; - will be able to compare different types of coursebooks and competently discuss their concepts; - will become familiar with a variety of materials intended to teach literary education, and with the criteria for their assessment; - will be able to adapt the teaching materials to specific educational purposes; - will be able to apply appropriate methodical approaches for teaching literary education to elementary school students.
Syllabus
  • Czech language: 1. The contents of teaching Czech language at the elementary schools. 2. Methods and forms of teaching the Czech language, the organisation of a lesson. 3. Types of lessons of teaching language. 4. Preparing language teaching lessons. 5. Motivation, feedback. 6. Additional materials: source materials for creating the curriculum. 8. Comparison of various types of coursebooks, discussions about their concepts.
  • Literature: 1. Interpretation of texts and basic questions of its practical application. 2. The variety of current reading books for the 2nd stage of elementary schools and other teaching materials. 3. The criteria for assessing reading books and course books (content, layout, didactic tools, management features). 4. Adaptation of specific materials for specific conception and education strategy of the course, the possibility of creating custom teaching materials for work with text. 5. Didactic interpretation in regards to traditional and alternative teaching methods, organizational forms of teaching literature. 6. Methods and forms of work supporting the direction of teaching literary education in order to develop the key competencies (reproduction and production activities, work with model scenarios, an axiological component of literary texts, etc.)
