Course objectives
Students will understand the process of literary education in the general and curricular sense, they will understand the methods for teaching literature at elementary schools, the role of creativity, the functions and methods of evaluation.
Learning outcomes
Students will become familiar the theoretical basics of the field and relevant didactic terminology. Students will understand the wider context of the process of literary education, they will be able explain and assess the literature teaching approaches in the general and curricular sense, they will be able to explain the basic issues of using the traditional and modern teaching methods and forms of activation for teaching literature at elementary schools, the roles of creativity and creating thinking, they will be able to explain the methods of evaluation and classification.
Syllabus
  • 1. The development of opinions on teaching literature at the elementary schools. 2. The conception of the objectives and the curriculum of literary education in current educational programs. Literary education in the Framework Educational Program for Basic Education: objectives of the literary education in regards to the educational field, areas, and the key competencies. 3. Specification of the course in the SEP, Standards of the basic education. 4. Models of the literary education, methodical systems of teaching literature as viewed by the current theories of teaching literature. 5. The methodology of teaching literature at primary schools. Classification of teaching methods. 6. The relationship between methods and phases of a combined literary education lesson. 7. The specifics of the didactic interpretation of text, interpretation as a solution to problematic situations. 8. Interpretative methods and approaches at the 2nd stages of elementary schools. 9. The development of students‘ creativity in the literary education, creative interpretation approaches. 10. The personality of the teacher, the communication between the teacher and the students in the literary education. 11. Evaluation, testing, and classification in literary education. 12. Researches of reading, of reading literacy and of reception of the reader.
