Course objectives
The rise of Czechoslovak Republic in 1918 represented not only the consummation of national endeavour in the sense of national freedom but also an important structural social change towards democracy. The evolution was interrupted by the two totalitarian systems - Nazi occupation and communist government. The changeover from totalitarian system to democracy in 1989 brought also the breake up of common Czechoslovak state and the rise of Czech Republic.
Syllabus
  • The first and the second Czechoslovak Republic. Protectorate and the problem of the revolt. Restitution of the Czechoslovakia and the way to february 1948. Communist regime. After-november age.
