Course objectives
The course provides knowledge of human safety and public protection in emergency events at the university level. Emphasis is placed on the relationship of the topic to teaching practice and civil preparedness. The course included practical examples with emphasis on the relationship of the topic to daily life, nature, technical applications etc.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students should know and be able to:
- Basic themes related to Occupational Safety and Human Protection in Emergencies and Civil War.
- On the basis of acquired knowledge, the student can take concrete measures to mitigate the negative impact of extraordinary events and protect himself / herself and others from these unfavorable impacts.
Syllabus
  • 1. Emergencies - classification of incidents, potential threats, how to prevent emergencies, how to be prepared and how to respond if the incident occurs and what to do after its completion; busiest emergency in the CR; Terrorism (basic characteristics, principles of safe behavior)
  • 2. IRS - Integrated Rescue System, basic and other components of the IRS and their coordination, involvement of legal and natural persons in rescue and relief work, Crisis situations, Crisis Management, The principles and foundations of security and crisis management system, Fire prevention - fire extinguishers, their types and principles of proper use, principles of fire prevention, self extinguishing and fire burning people

Civil Protection (Warning - the types of signals, what to do in case of alarm "General Alert", Hiding - definition, permanent and improvised shelters, Individual protection - individual and improvised means of protection, evacuation - what to do in case of   regulations and principles of leaving the apartment, evacuation and reception centers, evacuation luggage, label media closures and exits)
  • 5. Behaviour in case of emergencies (emergency calls, General warning, evacuation)
  • 6. Legislation - Act No. 239/2000 Coll. IRS and amending certain Acts, as amended, Act No. 240/2000 Coll. On crisis management and amending certain Acts (Crisis Act), as amended, Act No. 133/1985 Coll. fire Protection, as amended;
  • 7. First aid - Classification of injuries, disease, accidents and their prevention, acute conditions
  • 8. Natural disasters (flooding, heat waves, extreme cold, lightning)
  • 9. Natural disasters (wind, tornadoes, mudslides, earthquakes)
  • 10. Civil defence
  • 11. Safety rules for activities with children and youth (in the rooms and facilities in the gym and on the playground, at events in cities, the events in the field, movement, games and program, fire protection, for swimming during a lightning storm, protection against electric shock when working with tools, the camps)
