Course objectives
The course complements Syntax 1 and 2 (lecture and seminar). The seminar is used to practice the theoretical questions presented in the lectures Syntax 1 and 2 and to further deepen understanding of the structure of the French language based on reading texts, analysis of selected sentences and exercises from French university sources. The aim of the seminar is to enable students to gain a contrasting view of the French sentence and to understand the structure of French writing, its specifics, coordination and subordination relationships, and the vocabulary of the individual types of sentences.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student is able to: understand the simple sentence and sentence of the sentence, to analyze sentences in a simple sentence and sentence, to recognize the types of sentences in the sentence, to orientate in their mutual relations and types, to explain the occurring grammatical phenomena and syntactic interconnection, explain new trends in the French language, apply the lessons learned in practice - reading more complex texts.
Syllabus
  • 1. Sentence members and their relations (coordination, subordination). (3 teaching units) 2. Relations between sentences with a focus on the use of tenses and moods. (3 teaching units) 3. Participles and their use in French syntax. 4. Direct and indirect speech, half-speech. Sequence of tenses. (2 teaching units) 5. Word oreder in the French sentence compared to Czech. 6. Punctuation, differences between Czech and French. 7. Current trends in language, influences of other languages.
