Course objectives
The aim of the course is to learn how to analyze the context of teaching French for specific purposes (needs, goals, constraints) and to create a curriculum designed for the given context. We will see the extent of this field of didactics and its development and solutions of several concrete examples illustrated in case studies.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course students will understand the French for specific purposes topic, will be able to create their own educational program and teaching material, to apply the methodology in practice and to comprehend possible issues in international context.

  • 1. French for specific purpose (FOS) 2. Needs analysis 3. Data collection 4. Data analysis and development of teaching materials 5. Preparation of students to take courses in French-speaking countries (FOU) 6. FOS in European context (sharing of good practice with foreign universities)

Basic course ending: credit - active seminar participation, continuous tasks completion and seminar work (A - simulation of French for specific purposes course design / needs analysis or B - analysis of a "FOS" textbook) Another possible ending: colloquium - extra activities added to the basic course ending - internationalization activities - active participation in an international project, discussions in international groups, presentations

The course is taught annually.

COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) course part : 4 workshops with lecturers from Universität Augsburg, CCIP (Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie de Paris) and French Institute of Munich. Students of French as a Second language and teachers from Potsdam University and University of Pécs (Alliance EDUC) will also take part in online workshops.
