Course objectives
The goal of the subject is to get acquainted future teachers with the basic concepts of general linguistics with a bias on Romance linguistics. After the introduction into the bases of modern linguistics, the course deals with speech, language, text, language structuring, language plans, utterance, types of language classification, differentiation and integration in language development and with the origin and differentiation of Romance languages.
Learning outcomes
After the course Introduction to Language Study, student will be able to: - focus on basic general linguistic concepts; - understand linguistic contexts, language as a system; - characterize the French language in both diachronic and synchronous terms; - transfer theoretical linguistically oriented knowledge into future pedagogical practice.
