Course objectives
The aim of these subject is to provide information on the principles of voice care. The main emphasis will be on breathing and voice conditioning exercises that lead to improved vocal fitness, whether for future voice professionals or other students interested in improving vocal fitness. The course will also provide a basic understanding of anatomy and physiology related primarily to the voice-forming system. Based on a system of voice training to increase the fitness of the speaking voice, the student should be able to care for his/her voice and thus prevent certain voice problems.
Syllabus
  • Week 1 Hygiene of the voice. Strategies for voice care. Practical recommendations. Week 2 Anatomy of the breathing, phonation and articulation system. Practical exercises. Week 3 and 4 Phonation, voice production. Breathing and voice conditioning exercises. Weeks 5 and 6 Resonance and vocal oneset. Setting the voice into resonance. Weeks 7 and 8 Vocal registers. Breathing and voice conditioning exercises. Week 9 Types of voice, voice scopes. Breathing and voice conditioning exercises. Week 10 and 11 Voice disorders from the phoniatric and voice teacher's point of view. Voice conditioning exercises. Week 12 Practising vocal exercises for the development of the natural speaking voice.

Assessment methods
The subject is concluded by oral exam and practical exercises. During semester is required homework. The 80% attendance is necessary for giving course-unit credit.
