Course objectives
The subject explains the basic problematics and cathegories of music sociology in consideration of application possibilities of research methods and technologies in practice of empiric researches. Conceptionally the content is devided into three parts: the first part follows questions of field methodology the second one accents methods and technologies of an actual empiric research in all sphere of music culture the third one reflexes established facts about functions and socially existencial changes of music in the setting of contemporary mass medial cultury.
Syllabus
  • 1. Musical sociology (position in the range of musicology and general sociology, special segmental sociology, sociology of art, sociology of culture) 2. History of musically sociological thinking 3. Functions of music, changes of social existence of music in the contemporary world. 4. Sociological aspects of the musicality and the musical taste 5. Attitudes to music in the light of existing empirical researches 6. practice of musically sociological researches - methods and technics 7. Basics of the statistical file processing 8. Selection of the research objects - representativeness of selective files. 9. Music preferences of youth. 10. The position of music in the value orientation of youth. 11. Problems of mass culture.
