Course objectives
The course is focused on the basic questions of the reading and literary education didactic (the goals and content of the course), teaching materials and their diagnostics. After completing the course, the students will understand the basic questions of the field and the subject matters.
Learning outcomes
After finishing the course, students will be able to understand the basic questions of the field, they will be familiar with the concepts of objectives and contents of the course in the general and curricular sense. They will be able to explain the basis issues of reading techniques and diagnostic at primary schools, they will be familiar with current variety of teaching materials. They will be able to apply information regarding reading-book assessment criteria to evaluate selected coursebooks and to prepare their own materials.
Syllabus
  • 1. Literary education didactic as a science discipline. Basic course related literature. 2. General and timeless questions of the content and the objectives of literary education as a course of aesthetic education. 3. Contents and objectives of literary education in the concepts of FEP BE, school educational programs. 4. The objectives of literary education in regards to the educational field, educational area and the key competencies; literary education in the context of cross-curricular subjects and possible integration of educational content. 5. Standards of basic education. 6. The history of reader education and the development of reading-books. 7. Concepts and characteristics of current reading-books and other didactic texts. Most commonly used reading-book series, basic specifics of individual publishing house concepts. 8. Criteria for reading-book assessment, the role of management features. 9. Preparing custom teaching materials (choice of texts, worksheets, etc.). 10. Consolidation of reading techniques at the higher primary school grades, factual comprehension of the text, literacy. 11. Diagnostics of student’s reading performance, diagnostic checks.
