Course objectives
The course aims to present the school as an educational environment that provides space for holistic cultivation of the child's personality in key domains of culture. It combains and integrates a wide scale of topics and practical applications.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the students are able to characterise various trends in education in the past and in the present, describe and assess authentic educational processes in the school, discuss and design curriculum for a variety of disciplinary content and argue for different methods and approaches in teaching.
Syllabus
  • The course combined issues and topics from a variety of traditional pedagogy and didctics disciplines: theory of education, general didactics, philosophy of education, history of education etc. The course serves as a propedeutics for field didactic disciplines and aims to develop professional motivation of the students. Discussed topics include global education in the 21st century, the role of primary education in the schooling system in the Czech Republic and abroad, professional ethics, authority in education, personal and social development of primary school pupils, moral, aesthetic and physical education in the primary school.
