Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain everything about the important Church orders (Jesuit, Piarist and Franciscan Orders), which operated in the Czech lands in the New Age in religious, cultural, educational and social fields.
Syllabus
  • 1. Monastic life after the Trident council 2. Intellectual activity of monks 3. Everyday life behind the walls of the Baroque monastery 4. Architecture of Baroque monasteries 5. Dissolution of monasteries under the rule of Joseph II.
