Knowledge of German on lower intermediate level as documented by passing the exam at the end of the preceding summer term; ability and willingness to participate in German based classroom activities;

Course objectives
During the semester we will be concerned with the first unites of "em Hauptkurs NEU" which will be supplemented by additional material. Thematically, classes will focus on the topics "people and their biographies", "Languages", "Cities and special places", and (if there will be time left) "consumption". The aim is to further develop practical oral and written language skills in German.
Syllabus
  • - Unit 3: Portraits of big cities (Berlin, Wien, München); word order rules; - Unit 4: Habits of todays consumption societies; vital statistics on German and Czech population (how to read and interpret statistics). - Unit 5: Love and Partnership, Expressing Guesses, Letters to the Editor. Grammar: Nouns.
