Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: - to categorize short stories and describe them structurally - be able to approach short literary texts analytically, - to understand Prague's German literature not only clichéd (as a fantastic literature of the "magic Prague"). We will read and analyze mainly texts from the 20.-21. centuries, with the aim of presenting recent German literature.

We will read and analyze mainly texts from the 20.-21. centuries, with the aim of presenting recent German literature.
Syllabus
  • In the autumn semester 2018 we will be German short stories of the 20.-21. From Kafka to Kant and Süsskind to Dörrie and others. There is no uniform topic, the goal is German short story of 20.-21. To present in a fragmentary manner, using the short stories of different (author-typical) text characteristics, to learn and appropriate literary-analytical processes.

Seminar: compulsory reading, discussion.

For 1 ECTS point: reading, submitted responses to questions on reading, regular attendance, discussions in class For 2 ECTS points: additional essay
