Course objectives
At the end of the course students should understand the present topic issues of the German written problem oriented juvenile literature and they should be able to interpret and to analyse the literary juvenile problem oriented books.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able to understand the present topic issues of the German written problem oriented juvenile literature and they shall be able to interpret and to analyse the literary juvenile problem oriented books.
Syllabus
  • Realistic juvenile book. Charakteristics of the genre and its history. Present history as a topic ot the problem oriented literature. Realistic contemporary novel and its representants. The history of the juvenile literature in the 20. century to the present time. Topics of the problem orienied books: Violence in the peer-group, abuse, divorce of the parents, unemployment, disease, elderly people, death, racial intolerance, drugs, sexuality, social problems etc. Presentation of the protagonists and their development. Analysis of the individual books.
