Course objectives
The student will acquire knowledge in the field of didactic work with vocabulary, he / she will be able to propose suitable activities to practice and verify knowledge of new vocabulary using psycholinguistic aspects of vocabulary learning. As a future foreign language teacher, the student reflects the adequacy of didactic procedures at all stages of learning lexical means, and has knowledge of appropriate strategies for acquiring vocabulary.
Learning outcomes
Students acquire knowledge of vocabulary work and strategies for expanding vocabulary.
Syllabus
  • 1. Psycholinguistic aspects of vocabulary learning: contextual learning (weeks 1-3) 2. Receptive vocabulary: strategy of word meaning estimation, potential vocabulary (weeks 4-6) 3. Productive vocabulary: strategy of remembering and recalling words from memory (7th-9th week) 4. Reflection of teaching and learning procedures and creation of lexical lists on selected topics (10th - 12th weeks) A perfect knowledge of German is inevitable to pass this course, therefore is all information about it in German only.

Teaching methods
Independent study of theoretical background. Verifying the understanding and critical approach to the scientific text by elaborating six separate tasks on the texts. Independent study and elaboration of didactic tasks for mastering vocabulary is coordinated and discussed in the accompanying e-learning course Work with Vocabulary (moodlinka PdF MU). Students also expand their own vocabulary and develop strategies to acquire and equip their learned vocabulary. A perfect knowledge of German is inevitable to pass this course, therefore is all information about it in German only.
