Course objectives
The main aims of the subject
to understand relations between philosophy and education
to understand relations bewteen historically based ideals of education and reality of education
to know basic trends of philosophic conceptions of education
to be able work with scholarly literature
to prepare background for writting a dictionary entry of a dictionary of pedagogues
Syllabus
  • The domain A: the theoretical part
  • 1) Philosophy - as a theoretical discipline, as a praxis, as an applied discipline.
  • 2) Philosophy of education - ideál x reality, the 1. discurtion: kalokagathia, Plato, education in the Ideal polity, the role of myth.
  • 3) The truth as correspondence, the truth as pragmatically controled construction, the myth of the true world, the myth of biologically imbedded human being.
  • 4) The 2. discurtion - pedagogical conception of John Dewey - main characteristics, positives, negatives.
  • The domain B: the practical part, preparative of a dictionary entry
  • 1) Basic guides for working out of dictionary entry.
  • 2) Prediction and excerption of apt sources.
  • 3) Understanding of historical and idealogical background of thinking of given pedagical authors.
  • 4) Final elaboration datum of an entry.
