Course objectives
The course focuses on mastering basic graphic skills, ability to use printing and writing Cyrillic and mastering reading and listening to Russian texts. A successful learner from this course will be able to: - recognize and understand the written and spoken Russian text - to control the elementary knowledge of Russian language - to manage the graphic system of Russian language and Cyrillic writing and printing, mastering the correct pronunciation and intonation, and basic grammar and rules. The main task is to improve speaking in terms of phonetic, lexical and sentence. Writing is regularly practiced and reviewed in a number of separate sub-tasks. The teaching is also learning new vocabulary, emphasis on the gradual development of communication skills to selected topics. Writing and speaking are practiced regularly in the form of separate tasks.

  • 1 - 2 Acquaintance, greetings. How imagine. Expressing incomprehension. 3 - 4 How are you? Invitation. Tying words in speech. 5 - 6 Agreement, rejection, negation. Sentences with interrogative words что, где, когда. Intonation of questions and answers. 7 - 8 First work, then fun. Daily program. The program for each day. 9 - 10 Summer vacation. Active and passive vacation. 11 - 12 Where are you from? Countries and nationalities. Repetition.

Teaching methods
Course of practical Russian. Regular preparаtion for classes, homework, listening and reading Russian texts.
Assessment methods
A final test consists of written and oral parts. After a successful completion of the written part, students are allowed to take part in the oral test, which includes:
- conversation with the teacher
- discussion of a Russian book that the student had to choose and read for the test (30-50 pages);
- discussion of a Russian movie that the student had to choose and watch for the test.
Students have to create a glossary of new words from the book they selected and bring it to the oral part of the test. (min. 50 words).
