Course objectives
The aim of the course is to improve language and communication skills of the students (their reading, listening, speaking and writing skills), to advance their fluency in dialogues and monologues.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course students will able to understand authentic Russian texts and recordings, they will able to write in Cyrillic alphabet and to apply basic grammar rules in practice, they will be able to read texts in Russian and to speak on a given topic, the will be able to compose a dialogue and monologue on a given topic, and to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in practice.

  • 1.-2. How do you rest? Description of rest. Valentine's Day.
  • 3. Weather. Seasons.
  • 4.-5. My favorite food. What can you cook? What recipes do you know? April 1st.
  • 6. V restaurant. Spring holidays.
  • 7.-8. Transportation in and out of town. How do I get to school/work?
  • 9.-10. Types of transport. Advantages and disadvantages. How much do tickets/tickets cost?
  • 11.-12. Norms of correct telephone conversation in Russian. May holidays.

Teaching methods
Seminar. Independent home preparation, reading and listening to the texts in Russian.
Assessment methods
Regular active participation in seminars, regular completion of homework assignments. Preparation of a final essay on the assigned topic and its submission.
