Course objectives
Students aquaint with basic intonation structures of the Russian language, that are important for proper expression and communication in Russian.

The language of this course is Russian.

Students are obliged to read and to listen to Russian texts.
Learning outcomes
Students:
- have an overview of Russian intonation structures and can use these intonation structures,
- can compare intonation in Czech and Russian and avoid mistakes associated with incorrect use of intonation structures.
Syllabus
  • 1. Intonation, intonation structures of the Russian language (IS), centre of intonation, word stress and phrasal stress, division of sentences for syntagmas.
  • 2. Intonation structure 1 (IS-1). Declarative sentence.
  • 3. Intonation structure 2 (IS-2). Interrogative sentence with interrogative word.
  • 4. Intonation structure 3 (IS-3). Interrogative sentence without interrogative word, repeated interrogative sentence.
  • 5. Intonation structure 4 (IS-4). Incomplete interrogative sentence with Russian conjunction a. Sentences with an enumeration.
  • 6. Intonation structure 5 (IS-5). Emotionally sentences, positive and negative emotionally sentences with a two centers of intonation.
  • 7. Intonation structure 6 (IS-6). Positive emotionally sentences.
  • 8. Intonation structure 7 (IS-7). Negative emotionally sentences.
  • 9. Intonation of Russian in comparison to Czech: declarative sentence, interrogative sentence, imperative sentence.
  • 10. Reading of dialogues.
  • 11. Listening, analysis of this listening (correct use of IS).
  • 12. Revision: reading and analysis of dialogues.

Oral credit that includes proper reading of the Russian text. Emphasis put on correct Russian pronunciation and correct use of Russian intonation structures.
