Course objectives
The goal of the course is to develop written and verbal communication skills, to deepen knowledge of Russian language on the lexical and grammatical aspects.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students will be able to discuss the conversational topics; to express their views with using a new vocabulary; to apply grammatical and stylistic knowledge of the Russian language in written and verbal communication.

  • 1.-2. Fashion variability. Expression of modality.
  • 3.-4. Nonverbal communication in intercultural context. Facial expressions and gestures in members of different ethnicities.
  • 5.-6. Business: the way to success? Use of hyphens in Russian.
  • 7.-8. State and state establishment. Abbreviations in Russian
  • 9.-10. Globalization: pros and cons. Designation of the extension type in Russian.
  • 11.-12. Science and research. The importance of science today. Repetition.

Teaching methods
Seminar, class discussion on given topics, homework, group projects within the areas discussed, reading and listening of Russian texts.
Assessment methods
The course ends with a written and oral final exam.
Requirements for admission to the examination are active participation in class and regular assessment and doing the required home assignments.
Final exam is composed of written and oral parts. Final written test examines all student´s knowledge of Russian grammar and practical language. The oral exam contains the discussion with the teacher, the reading (Russian book(s) – 350 p.) and the listening (Russian movie). The student will also bring a vocabulary exercise book, which will contain at least 50 new words.
