Course objectives
At the end of this course student should be able: to evaluate available European grant programmes in the framework of the European structural fund and EACEA as well as in the programmes of the Czech NGO sector; apply their pedagogical competences in the area of non formal education; prove some basic theoretical knowledge and competences needed for project activities and fundraising for further practice of the modular project education format. Furthermore, student should be able to prepare/elaborate a grant application in European grant programmes or propose an opponency of two unsuccessful grant applications and suggest potential changes (collaboration with an existing team) or design developing and fundraising strategy for existing project plan (collaboration with an existing team).

  • Module 1 - PROJECT
  • . 1.Introduction to project process: motivation to project practice, competitiveness.
  • 2. Project cycle, basic terminology, strategic documents.
  • 3. Project team, communication.
  • Module 2 – FUNDRAISING
  • 4. Basic principles, terminology, resources.
  • 5. Youth in Action Programme, example of an EU standard- based application.
  • Module 3 – PRACTICE, REFLECTION
  • 6. Project process and fundraising: case studies.
  • 7. Reflection of collected data and completed mini projects.
  • 8. How to understand the grant application evaluators feedback - selected examples.
  • Module 4 – RESOURCES, OPPORTUNITIES
  • 9. Useful resources and instruments - where to find them.

Assessment methods
For successful fulfillment it is necessary to have good attendance and to elaborate three mini projects in the course of the semester, including their common reflection. - The NUMERUS Project - an appetizer of the project quizine; - The MANUS Project - a contact making activity in the NGO sector and field data collection; - The TEMPUS Project - role of a project in a two-year personal strategy of professional development.
