Course objectives
The purpose of this English course is to offer practical experiences with burnout prevention methods. The population of teachers is one of the higher-risk populations. Students will receive basic theoretical information about mental health risks, prevention, and treatment methods. The focus of the course will be on first-hand experiences with different prevention methods. These will be the content of both the seminars and home assignments.
Learning outcomes
Students will:
- be able to identify mental health risk factors
- be able to recognize the signs of burnout
- receive information about preventive methods
- experience mindfulness exercises (e.g. body scan)
- experience relaxation techniques (e.g. autogenic training)
- experience guided imagery
- experience body techniques for relaxation (e.g. yoga, Jacobson's progressive muscle relaxation)
- gain experience with the regular practice of these prevention methods
- be able to say which methods are suitable for her/him
