Prerequisites
Students are acquainted with the determination of social education as the scientific discipline, with the basic development trends in this branch. Students are focusing on the social educational paradigm, on the influence of environment and education. They describe the actual problems of social education.

Course objectives
Define social pedagogy as a scientific discipline. Understand its origin and development in Europe and in the world. To grasp the interdisciplinary character of social pedagogy with respect to theory and practice (the influence of various disciplines that gradually shape it), the importance of directions and disciplines for practical and effective application in practice. Demonstrate knowledge of the importance of the environment for the activation of the individual (pedagogy of the environment), grasp the axial dimension of the discipline. Understand the importance of social pedagogy in the field of social inclusion in society.
Learning outcomes
After successful completion of the course the students will: 1. be able to present its definition of social pedagogy (based on profesional literature) without difficulty and will be able to put it in the context of other social sciences. The student will be oriented in the subject of social pedagogy, will have an overview of basic professional literature. 2. be able to characterize the meaning of environment for humans and its typology. 3. acquire the ability to respond to basic socio-pedagogical situations in which education takes place. 4. acquire skills to critically evaluate the objective reality and adequately argue, avoiding "argument fouls". 5. gain inspiration and support in how to apply social pedagogy in the preventive, counseling or therapeutic fields. 6. understand the principles and values on which social pedagogy predicates.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic resources on the field and subject of social pedagogy. 2. Historical background of social pedagogy (brief insight), comparison of SP in our country and in the world. Sample professional literature from the field. 3. Axiological dimension of social pedagogy. Values as a part of the pedagogical profession. 4. Inclusion in the context of social pedagogy. 5. Teaching assistant in the classroom, experience from abroad (Finnish inspiration). 6. Cooperation of a teacher and a teacher's assistant at a primary school. 7. Non-teachers in school and their place (social pedagogue, psychologist at primary school). 8. Work with target groups: networking and transdisciplinarity in social pedagogy. 9. Roma child in kindergarten and primary school. 10. Globalization and migration as a part of everyday life, a child with a different mother tongue in kindergartens and primary schools. 11. World religions in the context of changes in contemporary society.
