Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The aim of this course is to provide fundamental information about integration and inclusion in the Czech education system and its comparison with foreign systems. Students will learn theoretically and practically how to organize the environment and education in a classroom integrating students with special needs.

  • 1. Historical development of approach towards people with disabilities 2. Definitions of terminology 3. System of education with focus on integrative education 4. Legislation and education of students with special needs 5. Individual educational plan - IEP 6. Material and organisational conditions for realization of integrative educationí 7. Educational strategies in integrative education 8. Cooperation with parents of a student with special needs in integrative settings 9. Strategies for independent learning

Teaching methods
seminar, class discussion, students projects and their presentation and discussion
Assessment methods
Group project containing: 1. Elaborate a model IEP 2. Essay on the topic Integration/Inclusion 3. Prepare a lesson in a model inclusive classroom 4. On a model example decide on needed material, technical and organisational changes needed for successful inclusion 5. Prepare an interview with parents of a pupil with learning difficulties The project will be presented in class and discussed.
