Course objectives
After completion of this course students will know the theory of personality and education of individuals with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and individuals with visual impairments. At the end of the course students will know categories of persons with visual impairments with intelectual disabilities. They will gain the knowledge of educational and counselling system of the goal group of pupils. Students will know principles, strategies and specific area of educating students with visual and intelectual disabilities related to areas of framework educational programme.
Syllabus
  • Education of individuals with mild intellectual disability 1.Legislation related to school pupils with mild mental disabilities, Education Act, regulations. 2.Pupils with mild mental disabilities (specifics of personality, cognitive processes, variability of developmental specialities). 3.Education of individuals with mental disabilities, terminology bases. 4.System of Pedagogical-Psychological Counseling services for students with mild mental retardation (School counseling services  school counseling departments, school counseling offices). 5.Practical elementary school. Its delimitation in the educational system (specifics of training). 6.Education programs for pupils with mild mental disabilities. Framework Education Programme for Preschool Education, Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education - Annex for education of students with mild mental disabilities. 7.Pre-school education for pupils with mild mental disabilities (pupils´ integration into kindergarten, preparatory class at primary school). 8.Specially-pedagogical diagnostics of Psychopeadia with a focus on pupil with mild mental disabilities. 9.Didactic principles in the education of pupils at practical primary school. 10.Teaching methods in the education of pupils with mild mental disabilities. 11.The position of therapy in the education of pupils with mild mental disabilities. 12.Teaching forms used at Practical primary school, the specifics of classwork, the structure of preparing teachers to teaching, differentiation, cooperative teaching. 13.Teaching resources in education (textbooks, ICT, mobility aids). 14.Career counseling for pupils with mild mental retardation, the specifics of vocational integration. 15.Legislation relating to school problems of education pupils with mild mental disabilities, the Education Act, regulations. Education of children and students with visual impairments: 1.The paradigm of education of visually impaired persons. Terminology of the field, its position within other science in relation to educating students with visual impairments. 2.Students with visual impairments, categories.
