Course objectives
The student will acquire basic knowledge about the diagnostics of impaired communication skills and methods that can be used in special pedagogical diagnostics. Within the course, the possibilities of interdisciplinary cooperation as well as the activity of counseling facilities and support of persons with impaired communciation ability will be presented.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student is oriented in the possibilities of interdisciplinary cooperation within the framework of complex diagnostics of impaired communication skills and counseling provided in school counseling facilities;  knows basic procedures for diagnosing impaired communication skills;  can describe basic diagnostic methods of impaired communication ability.
Syllabus
  • Main themes (syllabus):  Identifying the issue of impaired communication skills. Selected forms of communication disability - definition, etiology, diagnostics and therapy. interdisciplinary cooperation in the diagnostic process.  Examination model in the speech therapy.  General procedures of speech therapy.  Working with a child, a disciple of communication disability.  Characteristics of the methods and procedures used in our logopedic practice.  Methods and procedures used in the diagnosis of speech comprehension.  Methods and procedures used in the diagnostics of speech production.  Methods and procedures used to diagnose sub-folders.  Create a record sheet.  Case studies - Presentation of diagnostic procedures, discussion.  Presentation of aids and materials - discussion.

Teaching methods
seminar, discussion, homework,creation of materials for basic analyse of communication ability (material composition will be specified in the lesson)
Assessment methods
Case study, processing of aids and materials according to the teacher's instructions and their presentation; the seminar is finished by the test (75 % of the correct answers are required for successful completion of the course) and oral exam. 70% attendance is required in the course.
