Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course unit is to deepen students' knowledge about the diagnostics of auditory defects and methods of surdopedic diagnostics, They will acquire detailed information on objective and subjective hearing tests, comprehensive examinations, options Cooperation of a special pedagogue with other specialists - phoniatrist, ENT physician, psychologist and neurologist. The course also includes information reflecting the current legislative conditions for providing counseling Services in schools and school counseling facilities; In other devices he performs specially Pedagogical diagnostics surdopedic. There will be discussed options for correction of auditory defects and hearing use Prostheses and tools used to evaluate the benefits of these compensatory aids. Outputs expected:  orientation in the possibilities of diagnosis of hearing impairments at an early age, in the period of preparation for compulsory school Attendance and training for the profession of children and pupils with hearing impairment;  the ability to discuss the appropriateness of assigning a person with hearing impairment to the appropriate device According to available information;  orientation in the possibilities of auditory prosthetics and in the procedures for rehabilitation of individuals with hearing Disability.

  • Main themes (syllabus):  Diagnostic Methods and Techniques Used in Surprising Practice - Assessment and Interpretation of Results Objective hearing tests.  Diagnostic methods and techniques used in surdopedic practice - behavioral methods, assessment And interpreting the results of subjective hearing tests.  The importance of differential diagnostics and interdisciplinary cooperation in the diagnostic process.  Instruments for assessing the auditory perception and language skills of children with hearing impairment in early Age.  Diagnostic tools and procedures used in the diagnostic process of hearing-impaired children in pre-school Age, interdisciplinary cooperation.  Diagnostic tools and procedures used in the diagnostic process of pupils with hearing impairment at school Age, interdisciplinary cooperation.  Diagnostic tools and procedures used in the diagnostic process of hearing impaired students in the middle School age, adolescence, interdisciplinary cooperation.  Functional illiteracy - the issue of understanding the reader's text in the deaf, the reading of readers skills.

Theoretical preparation, active participation in teaching, group work, ongoing tasks, discussion.
Assessment methods
The student will prepare a case study of a child, pupil or student with hearing impairment in a range of about 2-3 pages Format A4 that will reflect the possibilities of timely diagnosis and follow-up care of a person with a diagnosed defect Hearing in the Czech Republic. Written exam (success rate - 70%) and oral exam.
