Course objectives
The student acquires theoretical knowledge of personality and education of people with low vision. Learning outcomes of the course is to make students understand visual impairment in the context of contemporary concepts.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to - to choose appropriate teaching strategies and adequate support measures to enable pupils and students with mild and moderate visual impairment to be educated at normal primary and secondary schools;
- to interpret their knowledge in the field of counseling and legislation;
- to diagnose the needs of pupils with a certain type of visual impairment, to choose an appropriate teaching strategy and to identify and remove possible obstacles to the learning process;
- will focus on the issues of counseling, visual and social rehabilitation of people with visual disabilities and their preparation for entry into the labor market.
Syllabus
  • Education of persons with visual impairment, terminological basis.Pupils with visual impairment in inclusive education.
  • Legislation on school education for pupils with visual impairment (VI).
  • Pupils with low vision (developmental specifics, diagnostics of needs according to type of visual impairment and level of functional vision, communication with visually impaired people, special aids).
  • Counseling services for pupils with visual impairment in the field of education and in the field of rehabilitation.
  • A pupil with a visual impairment in pre-school education. Framework education program for preschool education.
  • A pupil with a visual impairment in basic education. Specifics of pupil education with progressive visual impairment. Support measures.
  • Secondary and lifelong learning for visually impaired people. Work experience of people with mild and moderate visual impairment.
  • Special pedagogical diagnostics of visual impairment.
  • Didactic principles, methods, forms and means in the education of pupils with visual impairment.
  • Special optical aids and aids for pupils and students with low vision, visual hygiene.
  • The importance of visual and social rehabilitation in the education of pupils with visual impairment.
  • Visual impairment as part of multiple disability. Support and cooperation with the family.
