Course objectives
Students will acquire the basics of various communication techniques used in contact with individuals with hearing Disability. Active participation in teaching is required. Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the offer of communication systems suitable for hearing impaired individuals Disability and suitability of their use according to the type and degree of auditory defect and according to individual needs of the individual. The student will be Familiar with the basic rules for communicating with a person with hearing impairment using different ones Communication systems, In a situation where an interpreter is used. The student will be introduced to the problem Reception and production of written language for the deaf, reading and using visual-motor communication Systems in education The possibilities and specifics of intercultural and intercultural communication of individuals will be presented With hearing impairment. Outputs expected:  the student knows the available communication systems for people with hearing impairment;  can use selected communication systems in practice;  Addressing difficulties in reception and production of the Czech language among the deaf and the ability to justify These difficulties;  is oriented in the offer of interpreting services for people with hearing impairment

Syllabus
  • Main themes (syllabus):  Communication systems for hearing impaired people.  Ontogenetic development of speech in hearing-impaired individuals.  Early communication with a child with hearing impairment in a hearing and deaf family.  Development of communication skills in children with hearing impairment.  The Czech language in the communication of the deaf.  Reception and production of written language for the deaf.  Text editing options for hearing impaired readers.  Breathing.  Visual-motor communication systems.  Czech Sign Language - Theoretical Foundations.  Bilingualism of the deaf.  Interpreting services for people with hearing impairment.  Intracultural and intercultural communication of people with hearing impairment.

Teaching methods
Theoretical preparation, practical lessons, group work, active participation in teaching, performance of intermediate tasks during the semester.
Assessment methods
Written exam (70% success rate), practical exam and oral exam.
