Course objectives
The subject deals with theoretical and practical questions of social pathologies and it deeps problematics of negative displays in school enviroment from the bachelory part of studies.
At the end of the course, the students will be able:
- Understand and explain the formation of standards in the society, the functionality of the social system.
- Show the gained knowledge on the field of social pathologies and deviations.
- Project and coordinate prevention intervention programmes.
- Help someone in a difficult life situation.

Teaching methods
Lecture with individually preparation and study hour.
Assessment methods
Type of course: lecture. Completion: examination. Prerequisites for the course completion: A. PRESENTATION OF THE THEME Students in teams treated in detail one of the topics of the lectures in person and present it in a seminar. The presentation is set at max. 35 minutes + 10 minutes discussion. Subsequently, its theme and writing process (3-4 pages) and returning to a pre-specified date. B. The written test covering areas of the course, which requires a deeper theoretical understanding of the demarcated areas. Topics to be processed in the seminar: 1.Primární, secondary and tertiary prevention. Prevention education. System support and specialized facilities (government, non-profit). The rules in creating preventive programs, specific examples. 2.Mediace and probation. The Probation and Mediation Service. Alternative punishments, educational, cherries and protective measures. Law no. 218/2003 on Juvenile Justice. 3.Ústavní protection and education. The system of institutional education, inclusion of children and youth in institutional care. Reeducation, resocialization. 4.Penitenciární and after-care. Imprisonment. Prison, a special department. 5.Patologické addiction - definition, characteristics, types. Drugs and drug policy. Drugs as the current threat to the life of a child. Prevention, intervention specialist. 6.Záškoláctví as a specific phenomenon of the school environment. Definition, etiology, remedy, prevention. Methodological instructed the Ministry to deal with truancy. 7.Agrese and bullying among children. Definition, etiology, specific forms, correction and prevention. Legislation and laws. Methodological instructed the Ministry to deal with bullying. 8.Predelikvence, delinquency and criminality. Definition, etiology, correction and prevention. Crime prevention system in the Czech Republic and at the municipal level. Compared with foreign models. 9.Specifické socially pathological phenomena - homelessness, prostitution, suicidality. Definition, etiology, classification, prevention and intervention specialist. 10.Xenofobie racism. Specifics, risk, current topics in the Czech Republic and abroad. Importance of multicultural education. Risk influence of mass media, technical and information resources, social networks. 11.Extrémní movements, sects and cults. Definition, classification, possibilities of prevention. Examples in the Czech Republic and abroad.
