Course objectives
Students: explain the sexual dimorphism in the human appearance and behavior, understand the patterns of sexual and erotic behavior, rituals, and institutions, are able to discuss the concepts of behavior and respect for those confines and peculiarity during encounters between different cultures in today's globalizing world.
Syllabus
  • 1. The biology of sexuality – phylogeny and ontogeny of human sexual behavior, sexual development, response to olfactory stimuli. 2. Sexual behavior – identification, orientation, emotions, sexual behaviour in childhood and adolescence, sexual hormones and sexuality. 3. Human nature of cultural and anthropological point of view. 4. Marriage-definition, forms, sexuality. 5. The incestuous taboo and the rules of selection of partners. 7. Sexual behavior of primates and its importance for the emergence of sexuality in the evolution of the Hominoidea. 8. The diversity of the culture and customs, the genitals – male and female circumcision, castration, hemicastration, piercing, hair removal ... 9. Monogamy, polygamy, polyandry. Jealousy, infidelity, war of sperm – a strategy of man, women strategy. 10. Family – the core family and other forms, characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, extension.
