Course objectives
The subject is focused on the process of learning foreign language - Russian and the process of acquiring Russian at Czech elementary schools. The theoretical background presented in the seminar is then directly connected with the possibilities of practical application in teaching Russian language. The subject is also reflected in Teaching Practice 1. • The aim of the introductory seminar on Russian language didactics is to acquaint students with the linguistic and theoretical issues at the theoretical and practical level.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student is able to define didactic concepts, to describe communication competencies and to interpret its individual components, to identify curricular documents related to the learning of another foreign language, to characterize the problems of teaching Russian language, to enumerate and describe methods and strategies of learning foreign languages.

  • Content 1. Theory of foreign language acquisition - Russian based on the theory of mother tongue acquisition. 2. Classical and alternative courses in Russian. 3. Bilingualism, multilingualism and language transfer in foreign language teaching. 4. Russian language teaching at elementary schools, age factor and differentiation of Russian language teaching. 5. Learning styles. Russian language teaching strategies. 6. Learning strategies. Specifics of Russian lessons. 7. Students with specific learning needs in Russian language teaching. 8. Teacher of Russian language in practice. Professional development. 9. Professional self-reflection. Individuality of the teacher. 10. Student portfolio. Components, materials. 11.
