Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: 1. Explain the principles of creating 3D graphics and its display; 2. create 3D objects using various modeling techniques; 3. illuminate, apply materials and base textures; 4. Create simple object animations and scene cameras incl. final rendering; 5. explain principles of 3D printers and their use in education 6. model and prepare objects suitable for 3D printing 7. 3D print and solve possible printing problems

Syllabus
  • Week 1: Theoretical background and introduction to 3D modeling. Week 2: Control of 3D application and environment. Week 3: Objects - primitives, object manager and settings manager. Week 4: Polygon objects, other scene objects, NURBS modeling. Week 5: Basic application of materials and lighting. Week 6: Fundamentals of animation and rendering. Week 7: Principles of 3D printers Week 8: Printed models and slicer Week 9: Printing and possible problems 10th - 12th weeks: projects
