Course objectives
The aim of the subject is: - working on the enlargement of the Ss vocabulary with the focus on pronunciation (working with texts for listening, reading and writing and the re-working thereof into the Ss personal portfolio); - strengthening of further language tools (grammar, pronunciation on B1 level according to the European framework of reference for foreign languages); - developing language skills on A2 level (i.e. reading, writing, speaking and listening with understanding)
Learning outcomes
The main objective of the course is to develop speaking, reading, writing and listening skills at the Pre-Intermediate Level. The basic study material is the coursebook New English File Pre-Intermediate supplemented by various additional materials. At the end of the course students are going to be able to a) discuss everyday topics; b) communicate in everyday situations; c) read and listen to authentic texts at the Pre-Intermediate Level.
Syllabus
  • Grammar: 1) Word order; 2) present simple; 3) prepositions of place; 4) defining relative clauses; 5) past simple and continuous, regular and irregular verbs; 6) questions, auxiliaries; 7) conjunctions; 8) going to, present continuous; 9) expressing future. Topics: 10) IPA; 11) personality: talking about one´s family and friends; 12) the body; 13) describing pictures and photos; 14) describing objects; 15) talking about past experiences; 16) music; 17) travelling.
